Introducing Your Guide to Letterpress Printing

June 14, 2017 by Cory Smith

I'm a sucker for the bridal march.

I recently attended the wedding of a close friend (and Four Hats bride!) and it served as a great opportunity to reflect on a few things. Now, I've been to my fair share of weddings, worn more bridesmaids dresses than I have room for in my closet, and of course, planned (and attended) my own. Even still, every time those church doors open and a beautiful bride makes her way down the aisle to her smiling, waiting groom, my eyes fill with tears.

It is a sacred thing, marriage. And it's magnitude and beauty never get old.

I had such an enjoyable time at the wedding and reception of my friend. The ceremony was thoughtfully-crafted, the flowers were perfectly arranged. The tables were set with care, and the music was fittingly sweet and celebratory.

As enjoyable as it was to experience the event as a guest, I couldn't help but think about the reality that each of these enjoyable details was also a DECISION made by the couple, their families, and the vendors involved in making their day so lovely.

I've been spending a lot of time thinking through how I can help ease the decision-fatigue of wedding planning for my own clients so that couples can really breeze through the to-dos and get to the meaning behind their choices.

To that end, I've spent weeks refining my client workbooks and forms with the intent of being able to more thoughtfully guide couples (or other clients) through the process of design, letterpress, and lettering so that they can rest easy knowing I've got the communication and presentation under control so they can spend their thought energy on other things.

If you, a family member, or friend are looking for some thoughtfully-crafted paper items to celebrate the happenings in your life, take a look through the guides attached.

AND! If you book a project with me by June 30th, I'll offer you a 10% discount, just for being a pal. Just mention the code SomethingOldSomethingNew in your inquiry under "Other notes" and I'll be sure to apply the discount.

Back and forth from my chair to the radiator, sipping hot chocolate in between. Thankful to be headed south later this week where warmer temps will offer a little reprieve. ❄️
So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. - 1 John 4:16
-
Just as I pray this one grows up knowing and believing that we love her, our Father does the same for us all. Abiding in this—his affection for us— today.
I may not get to hand-deliver candies and cards to all 20 of my classmates/friends anymore, but I sure as heck won’t let this week go by without making some heart-shaped cookies to celebrate some people that make my life a little lovelier.
-
I also made some super simple editable printable cards for your gal pals and loved ones. Find them on the blog today! 💌
There’s a Patty Griffin song that talks about how “the winter’s long gets into your boots.” Today (again), I feel that acutely as I long for the backyard, fresh-grown herb-snipping days. They will come, they will come, they will come.
