One of the biggest obstacles for thoughtfulness is preparedness. I always want to be able show up to a dinner party with a simple hostess gift or be able to send the perfect card to a friend at just the right moment. For me, the hardest part isn't in the doing, it's being able to think and plan ahead, to gather the supplies I need to be spontaneously thoughtful when needs arise.
Maybe you're in the same boat.
You never sent a note of sympathy to the co-worker who lost her aunt because you just couldn't make it to the store to get a card before it felt like it was too late.
You want to let a friend know how much you appreciate her small kindness towards you and you don't feel like a text gives your message enough weight.
You want to write an anniversary card to your special someone and your big date night is TONIGHT!
As a stationery lover and printer, I've historically had a pretty healthy stash of occasion cards for these purposes, but sometimes, a little personalization is just better. Enter: social stationery. A simple folded note printed with your name is the ideal blank slate for any sort of heartfelt message.
Want to start building your little collection so that you can be armed and ready? Before you need them, gather your supplies. Purchase or make some all-purpose cards, run to the post office to get a sheet of stamps, collect your favorite writing utensils. Keep all your goodies in a little box on your desk so that when someone pops into your mind, you don't have to scramble. Think about it, then do it. Sign, seal, deliver.
